The W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture is a historic site and research facility located in the residential Cantonments area of Accra, Ghana. It is dedicated to the legendary African-American sociologist, civil rights pioneer, and pan-Africanist leader, Dr. William Edward Burghardt Du Bois. In 1961, at the invitation of President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Du Bois moved to Ghana to spend his final years working on the Encyclopedia Africana, a monumental project documenting the history and culture of African people. The centre encompasses his final home, a research library, an open-air amphitheater, and a peaceful mausoleum where the remains of Dr. Du Bois and his wife, Shirley Graham Du Bois, are interred.
