Should You Go To Arise Palm Resort in 2026? (An Honest Review)

The beautiful golf club building at Arise Palm Resort

Akwa Ibom State has always been regarded as Nigeria’s best-kept secret, but Arise Palm Resort in Uyo, the capital city, is a whole discovery. And in 2026, everybody is paying attention.

Arise Palm Resort isn’t a hotel; let’s get that clear. It’s an all-inclusive resort that sits on 70 hectares of reclaimed land right behind the Akwa Ibom Government House on Dominic Utuk Avenue, and it was built on what was once one of the most dangerous gully erosion sites in urban Nigeria.

From Gully to Getaway: The Story Behind Arise Palm Resort

Before anything called Arise Palm Resort, there was a ravine.

For years, the land behind the Government House in Uyo was a massive, eroding gully. It was an eyesore, a safety hazard, and a criminal hideout. The kind of site that city planners fence off and ignore. Governor Umo Eno did not ignore it.

Under his ARISE Agenda, the state government awarded the project to Bulletine Construction Company in 2024 and started turning that degraded land into a full-scale leisure and tourism destination.

This wonderful specimen of human invention is a result of a decision to solve a problem differently, and it gives the resort something most tourism facilities in Nigeria simply don’t have: a story.

What Exactly Is Arise Palm Resort?

Arise Palm Resort, also known as Ibom Arise Resort, is a 70-hectare eco-friendly, all-encompassing luxury destination located on Dominic Utuk Avenue in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. It is designed to be a self-contained municipality featuring sustainable energy from a 1.5-megawatt (1,500 kW) solar farm and 24/7 security with a dedicated police post and CCTV.

It’s massive and extensive—a sprawling, well-designed family leisure facility that can pass for a city within a city.

Facilities

The Artificial Lake

The resort features an artificial lake with a 200-metre length and 2.6-metre depth, complete with floating bars, small boats, and water-based cabanas.

The artificial lake is supplied by natural spring water. Two floating restaurants are set directly on the lake’s surface, offering visitors a waterfront dining experience. Boating activities on the lake are also part of the planned recreational appeal.

Floating Restaurants and Waterfront Dining

The dining experience at Arise Palm Resort is literally anchored on water. There are two floating restaurants on the lake, serving as the resort’s signature dining venues. The resort also features bars and additional food outlets within the grounds.

The Luxury Villas and Guest Apartments

Arise Palm Resort has 20 luxury guest apartments and villas, including remote-controlled bungalows and chalets. So you can stay overnight. The villas and chalets are fully furnished serviced units with views of palm groves, green spaces, and possibly the lake, depending on your unit’s location.

The resort is family-friendly, especially for parents who travel with kids. Upon checking in, your children can have a swell time at the playground, which means you don’t have to leave the property to find entertainment.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, a private chalet surrounded by palm trees and close to waterfront dining is about as romantic as Uyo gets. The remote-controlled features in the bungalows provide a degree of smart design meant for upscale standards.

The Nine-Hole Golf Course and Clubhouse

Arise Palm Resort features a nine-hole golf course with a full clubhouse. Other sports facilities include courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball, and badminton.

The Football Pitch and Sports Arena

The standard football pitch at Arise Palm Resort is built to professional grade. It’s a full-size pitch with proper turf, designed for serious use.

Also, the resort has a gym, squash facilities, table tennis, a running track, a clubhouse, a walkway with park benches on the pathways, and a multiplex sports arena featuring indoor games such as ten-pin bowling, basketball, and badminton.

The Swimming Pool

The pool area at Arise Palm Resort is a state-of-the-art facility integrated with floating relaxation spots. It’s a water experience to leave you impressed.

The Spa and Wellness Facilities

The resort includes a dedicated relaxation spa with treatment facilities. You can have a morning massage, an afternoon on the lake, and dinner at a floating restaurant.

The Children’s Playground and Family Zones

One of the resort’s most prominent facilities is the children’s section with an arcade centre, an amusement park with a roller coaster, and a playground—a purpose-built space for younger visitors. Within the larger resort grounds, children have room to move freely in a secure, fenced environment. It caters well to families visiting with kids.

Banquet Hall and Conference Centre

Arise Palm Resort has a 1,500-capacity banquet hall and a 1,000-seater conference and wedding centre, transforming the resort from just a leisure destination into a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination.

Enabled by the Victor Attah International Airport and the growing domestic routes of Ibom Air, flying into Uyo for a conference and extending the stay for leisure is becoming very easy.

On-Site Shops and Commercial Outlets

The resort has café spaces and commercial retail outlets within the grounds. Visitors can buy snacks, souvenirs, sun protection, and leisure items without leaving the property. Be prepared to find Akwa Ibom-made products—food, crafts, and culture—a massive boost to the local economy.

Power, Security, and Infrastructure

Ibom Arise Resort operates on clean energy via a 1,500kW solar farm. It has 24/7 CCTV surveillance and a dedicated police post on the grounds. Technically, the resort is designed to operate independently of the national grid, ensuring that power outages are non-existent.

You can use electric buggy cars for transportation across the expansive grounds, aligning with the resort’s eco-conscious positioning.

The Planned Creative Village

A creative village, which will include a film academy and movie production facilities, is being planned as part of the park. This would be a big boon to Nigeria’s entertainment industry, and you can expect to stumble on your favourite celebrities at the resort.

How Green Is Arise Palm Resort?

The site began as environmental degradation, an erosion gully eating into urban land. Thankfully, the resort has taken over. The management engineered the land, built a lake fed by natural spring water, planted thousands of palm trees, and powered the whole facility with solar energy.

The electric buggies reduce internal combustion traffic within the grounds, and the solar farm reduces grid dependency and carbon output. The palm groves function as a green corridor in the middle of a city.

What Can You Do At Arise Palm Resort?

Tennis, golf, football, squash, gym, kayaking, basketball, table tennis, bowling, volleyball, badminton, and so much more. A golfer could play the nine-hole course in the morning and be at the floating restaurant for lunch before 1 PM. Gym-goers have a dedicated facility. Children have their own section, with a playground and an arcade. Parents have the spa, the pool, and the dining options to occupy themselves while the children are engaged. Karaoke nights and music sessions are also part of the experience.

Electric buggies make moving across the property manageable with young children. Families visiting Uyo from Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, or outside the country will find that Arise Palm Resort offers a full day with a jam-packed schedule.

For any organization planning a national conference in 2027 and beyond, Arise Palm Resort should be on your shortlist.

Is It Actually Open?

As of August 2026, Arise Palm Resort is not yet officially commissioned.

Governor Umo Eno set September 2026 as the target commissioning date, and the Managing Director of Bulletine Construction Company confirmed that operators would begin taking over completed facilities from August.

The Destination Marketing Manager confirmed that comprehensive marketing campaigns, branding strategies, and operational plans are already being implemented to ensure the facility attracts visitors immediately after commissioning.

The resort has been inspected by senior government officials, toured by prominent celebrities, presented to tour operators at the NATOP annual meeting, and described in glowing terms across multiple national media outlets. The construction company says final works are in the last phase. The governor has ridden the roller coaster on a night inspection and posted about it on social media.

So if you’re reading this before September 2026 and planning a trip to Uyo specifically to visit Arise Palm Resort, contact us or the resort directly before you travel to confirm operational status. If you’re already in Uyo and the resort has opened, go.

Before You Go: Confirm These First

Call ahead or check official channels to verify:

  • Opening hours and days (weekday versus weekend access may differ at launch)
  • Day visitor admission and pricing
  • Activity fees (golf, spa, boat rides, and the sports arena may be priced separately)
  • Accommodation availability and booking process
  • Restaurant access for non-residents
  • Which facilities are operational at the time of your visit
  • Photography and drone restrictions
  • Whether advance reservations are needed for specific activities
  • Group or event booking procedures for the convention centre

In the first months after any major facility opens, operational flow is often still being refined. Staff training, pricing structures, and service consistency take time to settle. Manage your expectations properly.

Is Arise Palm Resort Overhyped?

The project is real, and the transformation story is genuine. What remains to be tested is the operational reality.

Arise Palm Resort has enormous potential. However, a facility of this magnitude requires consistent management, a trained workforce, functioning maintenance systems, and sustained investment beyond the opening fanfare. These are the areas where most Nigerian public infrastructure projects have historically struggled.

Buildings and green areas at Arise Palm Resort

Governor Umo Eno acknowledged this personally, noting that the greatest challenge facing public projects across Africa is not construction but maintenance after commissioning, and he said his administration has developed a sustainability framework to address it from the outset.

What that framework looks like in practice, and who manages it, will determine everything. A poorly managed 70-hectare resort degrades faster than a well-managed 10-room guesthouse.

The Arise Palm Resort is not the first leisure tourist attraction in Akwa Ibom State. There is the Ibom Icon Hotel and Golf Resort, a 5-star hotel resort with an established identity: an 18-hole golf course, 63 rooms, 26 suites, 7 villas, a health centre, sauna, hammam, Jacuzzi, and a heliport. Arise Palm Resort is not competing; rather, it is complementing what’s already on the ground—giving tourists a wide variety of options to choose from. Think of the many luxury resorts and riads in Marrakech, Morocco.

When all the leisure attractions are working optimally, best believe Uyo will be very attractive.

What Will Impress First-Time Visitors

The sheer scale will be the first thing that hits you. Walking into a 70-hectare resort within a city is enough to evoke a reaction. The palm grove environment is natural, authentic, and beautiful.

The story is also an attraction. Most tourists don’t know what they’re standing on when they visit a resort. Here, you know. You’re standing on what used to be a threat to a city, turned into a gift for the collective enjoyment of all.

What Could Disappoint Visitors

If you arrive here expecting Dubai or a Singapore resort at full operational capacity, you may be disappointed.

Arise Palm Resort is grand, arguably one of the best in Nigeria and across the continent. However, as a freshly opened public facility, it’s definitely not the gold standard. It will go through a period of operational refinement. Service may be uneven in the early months. Some facilities may open in phases. Staff may still be learning systems. This is normal for any major hospitality launch. It becomes a problem only when visitors arrive with overwhelming expectations.

The maintenance question is also real. If it is well managed, it would likely be one of the most visited tourist attractions in Nigeria. One of its advantages is the fact that it is right in the city centre, and not some distant village.

Can Arise Palm Resort Change Tourism in Akwa Ibom?

Projections indicate that the resort will directly employ at least 1,000 people upon full operation, with employment expected to rise as additional facilities become operational. Beyond direct employment, the ripple effects on Uyo’s broader tourism ecosystem are significant. Hotels fill up when visitors come to the resort. Restaurants and food vendors near the resort benefit. Transport services—taxis, ride-hail drivers, airport shuttle operators—gain business. Local photographers, content creators, and tour guides find new clients.

The Federal Minister of Aviation noted that aviation and tourism go together as a full package, and described the Arise Palm Resort as complementary to the newly upgraded Victor Attah International Airport.

An international airport without a compelling tourism product is just a transit point. A tourism product without airport access is just a local day-trip facility.

Arise Palm Resort is not trying to be the only reason to visit Akwa Ibom. It’s trying to be the reason you stay longer.

The Verdict: Yes, Arise Palm Resort Is Worth Visiting, But…

Go for what it is, not what you imagine it to be.

Arise Palm Resort is the most ambitious tourism development in Akwa Ibom State’s history. It was built on land that nobody wanted, using public funds, by a governor who staked a significant part of his legacy on it.

The scale is real. However, it is not a fully mature resort with years of operational experience. Therefore, manage your expectations.

The truth is, a destination doesn’t become truly successful when it is built. It becomes successful when visitors consistently leave saying, “I want to come back.”

That is the test Arise Palm Resort will have to pass.
